Stretch-activated K + channels are likely to be significant contributors to the relaxed state in pregnancy because activation by arachidonic acid lowers myometrial tension in oxytocin-stimulated tissues, an effect blocked by fluphenazine while fluphenazine alone had no effect in our studies.
