Such suppression might be significant at the level of the olfactory bulb due to the high convergence of ∼1,000 ORNs onto a single glomerulus and the high “set point” of basal activity of second order neurons in the olfactory bulb in vivo in awake behaving mice ( Rinberg et al., 2006 ).
