An exact Poisson regression analysis (adjusted for sex, degree of haemosiderosis – age not significant) showed the following relative risk (RR) of experiencing a cardiac-related death: DFO had 6.1 RR and 5.7 RR compared to DFP and Combination, respectively, although the results were marginally non-significant ( P -values 0.058 and 0.073, respectively).
