The attitudes towards psychiatry can be broadly grouped into attitudes about the overall merit of field of psychiatry, efficacy, role definition and functioning of psychiatrists, possible abuses and social criticism and career and personal rewards. It was found that on the whole, the pre-posting attitudes were very positive on all except two state- ments: [a] students felt that psychiatrists tended to overanalyze human behavior and [b] that they made less money than other physicians. On comparison with their attitudes after the post- ing, it was found that while there was a positive trend in several areas, it did not reach statistical sig- nificance.
