While there may be significant barriers to Internet access for certain demographic groups, such as those above age 65 and those with lower education and income levels (Rainie 2010 ), our study indicates that once members of these demographic groups do gain access to the Internet, the potential for the Internet to close socio-economic gaps and racial divides is high.
