To test this hypothesis in our zebrafish model, we administered AVT at three doses intraperitoneally (i.p.) to dominant males and observed a highly significant reduction in their aggression (to 7-30% of sham; paired t -tests: t 6 = 4.568 and P = 0.004; t 7 = 5.227 and P = 0.001; t 8 = 7.286 and P < 0.001; for 0.5, 1, and 5 μg/g.b.w. doses, respectively; Fig. 4A ).
