The medians (lower and upper quartile) of total blood loss during labour and within 2 hours post-partum were respectively 200 ml (200-300 ml) and 170 ml (110-200 ml) in the caesarean section group and control group and the difference was highly significant (Wilcoxon rank sum test, Z = 13.81, P < 0.0001).
