failed to reach significancep = 0.091
For stimuli preceded by a stimulus of the same category within mixed blocks (Mixed PrSame), again the N170 amplitude was influenced by stimulus category [ F (3, 13) = 3.9; p = 0.035], but in this presentation condition, the N170 was (or tended to be) larger for orthographic stimuli than for faces [Faces versus Words: t (15) = 1.7; p = 0.116; Faces versus Non-Words: t (15) = 0.5; p = 0.647], and even the difference between faces and cars failed to reach significance level [Faces versus Cars: t (15) = 1.8; p = 0.091].
