In the olfactometer, the highest concentration also reduced the number of mosquitoes caught, although the effect was marginally significant (Table 1 , P = 0.08). 2-Phenylethanol clearly inhibited mosquito attraction exerted by the basic blend as its addition reduced the number of mosquitoes caught by more than 50% in both bioassays.
