Of note, the urinary excretion of Cd, RBP and β 2 -m expressed per gram of creatinine showed a highly significant negative correlation with urinary creatinine, a residual association that persisted after exclusion of extreme values of urinary creatinine (<0.3 or >3.0 g/l, all p<0.001; results not shown).
