Interestingly, the comparison of the gene expression patterns of G0-arrested fibroblasts (after 24 hours of serum starvation) of all different genotypes tested showed negligible differences among the transcriptional profiles of the WT controls and those of the H- ras -/- or N- ras -/- knockout cells (Tables 1 and 2 ), indicating that H-Ras and N-Ras do not play a highly significant functional role in generating the transcriptional response of cultured fibroblasts to the stress of serum deprivation.
