The major disadvantage of octreotide use is hyperglycemia and decompensation of diabetes mellitus, which may be significant but reversible. 9 In the present, study although 71% of patients experienced hyperglycemia, this was not of clinical significance and none of the patients discontinued the therapy due to this side effect.
