By comparing to a background set of 41,906 human promoters and running against known cell cycle associated transcription factor binding sites the analysis suggested a highly significant association of E2F matrices among these genes ( Table 2 ). 8 out of the 10 most significant matrix associations were all E2F binding sites, especially E2F1 ( Table 2 ); which suggests a common regulatory mechanism among these 26 genes.
