Circulating inflammatory mediators and metabolic panel in Lassa fever Evaluation of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, growth factors, and disease state metabolite indicators revealed statistically significant to highly significant differences between LF patients and non-LF controls in the levels of interleukin (IL) -10, IL-8, IL-6, macrophage inflammatory protein 1 beta (MIP-1β) (Figure 4 ), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), total carbon dioxide (tCO 2 ), calcium (Ca 2+ ) corrected for albumin (ALB), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (Figure 5 ) in LF patients compared to non-LF controls.
