Indeed, we found a highly significant inverse correlation between miR-146a expression and CXCR4 membrane protein level, indicative of a posttranscriptional control of gene expression; in fact, the plotting of miR-146a and CXCR4 protein levels showed that these two parameters are inversely related ( r 2 =0.45; P =0.0001) ( Figure 1d ).
