1 – 4 Furthermore, minimal invasive OPCAB resulted in lower AF incidence compared with conventional, more extensive OPCAB in one study, but surprisingly failed to reach significance in another. 74 , 75 This might indicate that the trauma and the successive inflammation of the pericardium that easily spreads within the pericardial sac rather than the manipulation of the myocardial tissue itself renders the atria more prone to AF.
