Prophylactic treatment with 2 g/kg of IVIg ip 18 hours before the induction of acid-induced ALI showed a slight trend towards an attenuated injury response in that the decline in SaO 2 subsequent to acid instillation was largely blocked, yet no significant differences in peak inspiratory pressures or mouse W/D lung weight ratios were detectable between saline and IVIg pretreated mice ( Figure 8 ).
