However, there has been an increasing trend to reconstruct the evolutionary history of domestication through the loci that have been subject to selection ( Sang 2009 ; Gross and Olsen 2010 ; Blackman et al. 2011 ), as the genetic bases have been uncovered for many domestication-associated traits, including plant structural changes ( Wang et al. 1999 ; Doebley et al. 2006 ; Li et al. 2006 ) and food quantity and quality ( Sweeney et al. 2007 ; Shomura et al. 2008 ; Kovach et al. 2009 ).
