A recent systematic review of available randomized controlled studies mainly in subjects with moderate hypercholesterolaemia confirmed that the inclusion in the diet of a modest amount of soy protein (25 g) produces a highly significant reduction of total cholesterol and LDL-C levels equivalent to ca. 6% LDL reduction [ 79 ].
