There were highly significant differences in culturable bacterial numbers between aquaculture and control sites over the entire study period (P<0.001, rank transformation test), with bacterial numbers significantly higher in late spring (November, 2008) and high summer through winter (January through July, 2009) than at other times (P<0.05, Student-Newman-Keuls post-test).
