The total number of offspring in both experimental periods was similar between the predator and control treatments; however, there was a marginally significant effect of more offspring being produced in the control than the predator treatment in the first three-day period (first three-day period: paired t-test, t 14 = 2.067, P = 0.058), with no effect in the second three-day period (paired t-test, t 14 = −0.648, P = 0.528) ( Table 1 ).
