Therefore, the large amount of PSs produced in Fe-deficient plants may represent an additional requirement for reduced S, that can be somewhat temporary but possibly significant, generating a typical demand-driven coordinated transcriptional regulation of genes involved in sulphate uptake and assimilation, somehow similar to that observed in S-deprived plants.
