OVERALL CONCLUSIONS ON METABOLIC PATHWAYS Taking into account the free energy calculations, SSU rRNA gene data and the relative abundance of functional genes in the metagenome, we conclude that several sulfur redox reactions may be significant in this environment (see Figure 8 ).
