In univariate proportional hazards models stratified by baseline liver fibrosis stage (0–1 and 2–3), UCSF treatment nonresponders showed an increased hazard for developing cirrhosis when compared to the never treated group, but this result fell just short of statistical significance (HR = 2.28, CI 0.93–5.59, Table S3 ).
The hazard ratio for treatment relapsers also tended toward protection, but did not achieve significance.
