Discussion The present cross-sectional study demonstrates in a large, well-characterized population of adult asthma patients of all degrees of severity and different grades of control over a period of 3 years a highly significant correlation between vitamin D status (as reflected by serum 25(OH)D concentrations) and measures of asthma severity and control.
