Of the 12 markers evaluated, the median unstimulated, antigen stimulated, or antigen-specific levels of seven (IFN-α2, IL-1Ra, IP-10, sCD40L, VEGF, MCP-3, IFN-γ) were either significantly different between the two groups or showed trends ( Table 2 ): the unstimulated levels of IFN-α2 and IL-1Ra were significantly higher (p<0.05) in children without TB disease, while the median unstimulated levels of IP-10 and sCD40L were significantly higher in those with disease, with the difference in the unstimulated levels of VEGF (higher in TB) and MCP-3 (higher in non-TB) showing a trend towards significance (p = 0.06 and 0.07 respectively) ( Table 2 ).
