Among the secondary variables, with increasing GI we found higher levels of total cholesterol (ratio 1.05 (95% CI: 1.01, 1.09)) and leptin (ratio 1.21 (95% CI: 1.05, 1.40)) and in addition a borderline significant association with higher levels of insulin (ratio 1.08 (95% CI: 0.99, 1.19)).
