While the modest decrease in pulmonary bacterial burden in the PknD vaccinated group at 6-weeks could have partially contributed to the decreased bacterial dissemination to the CNS, highly significant differences were noted in bacterial dissemination to the CNS even at 4-weeks, when the pulmonary bacterial burden in the PknD vaccinated groups were no different than the controls.
