Cd is a characteristic waste product of many industrial processes and is toxic to multiple organs, and it may be significant that the trees used to fuel the woodstove in this study were grown in the vicinity of a waste incinerator. 48 Waste incineration plants have been shown to release Cd as part of the incineration process, 49 , 50 and Pb was also enriched in woodstove PM compared to all other PM with the exception of road tunnel PM.
