When comparing the two syndrome clusters in relation to gender using a chi-squared test, a weak trend suggested that women more commonly experienced depression with symptoms related to Spleen Deficiency whereas men's experience of depression was more likely to be related to Liver Qi Stagnation ( χ 2 = 3.98, df = 1, P = 0.046).
