During Trial 2, growth rate was affected by initial mass ( F 1,41 = 27.8, P <0.0001) and air temperature ( F 1,34 = 37.1, P <0.0001) but the effect of rainfall was marginally non-significant ( F 1,41 = 3.9, P = 0.06).
Statistical Analyses In a preliminary covariance analysis with metamorph mass as a covariate and trial # as the factor, we found no significant effects of trial # on swimming or feeding performance ( P >0.05), and a marginally significant effect of trial # for jumping performance (but with similar trends in both sets of trials).
