When bacterial activity was assessed after a host-free incubation for 40 h in DGM-D, a highly significant decrease in the proportion of active bacteria was observed in the RB fraction, in which only 11.5% (±1.4) of the DIC-detectable particles had maintained their ability to reduce CTC ( Fig. 1 ) (t-test, p≤0.001).
