Capecitabine, an oral fluoropyrimidine, when added to gemcitabine (GEM-CAP) was shown to improve progression-free survival with a nonsignificant trend towards improvement in overall survival compared with use of gemcitabine alone in a meta-analysis and is a reasonable combination for patients with good performance status 35 .
