Second, the direction of the effect of frugivory on agonistic rates differed between taxa; although there was a nonsignificant trend in the predicted direction among cercopithecine primates, the trend was in the opposite direction among noncercopithecines in the phylogenetically controlled analysis, with increased frugivory being related to decreased agonism.
