Indeed, isolates of SNP-CC2, which comprised 50.0% of all strains and were responsible for 61.8% all of (47 of 76 strains) HUS cases in this study ( table 2 ), showed a highly significant association (odds ratio 3.86, 95% confidence interval 1.63–9.30, P < 0.01) with the development of HUS.
