This has necessitated active role by all the anaesthetists to take precautions against transmission of infection between patient and anaesthetist and between patients as a routine part of safe anaesthesia practice to reduce healthcare associated infections (HCAIs).[ 1 ] There is an increasing trend in the western world toward the use of disposable or single use equipment to tide over this problem but for a country like ours it would not be feasible.
