Although the exact mechanism behind IOP elevation following ocular corticosteroid administration is not completely appreciated, it is thought to be derived from an increased resistance to aqueous humor outflow within the eye, and understanding the reason behind such a disparity between IVI and STI of corticosteroids regarding IOP elevation may be significant for comprehending their differences in efficacy.
