Fetal cord hemoglobin status at delivery was positively and significantly associated with maternal hemoglobin and gestational age (marginal significance) whilst female gender of infant was negatively associated with cord hemoglobin status, such that female newborns had, on the average 1.05 g/dl Hb lesser than their male peers.
