Based on the mRNA-Seq and genomic sequencing data, we observed a highly significant negative correlation between 3′-UTR length and gene expression level of the corresponding ORF ( r = −0.089, P <10 −4 ), suggesting an important role for the 3′-UTR in the regulation of transcription.
