We feel that the discovery of active transsulfuration in mammary cells is thus a highly significant finding, given that this identifies a metabolic mechanism through which oxidant stress may be linked to the etiology of chronic diseases such as breast cancer, via the potential for changes in the epigenetic regulation of genes.
