A study in Thailand found only a marginally significant independent association between density high hookworm infections (≥1,000 ova/mL) and anemia among pregnant women with an adjusted odds ratio of 2.05 (95% CI: 1.01 to 4.20; p = 0.049); no association with low density infections was found in multivariate analysis [43] .
