SSc The statistically highly significant association of HCMV infection in Swiss SSc patients (59% seropositivity in SSc patients compared with 12–21% in controls) [ 83 ] has not been observed in other studies so far [ 81 , 82 ], even though higher HCMV antibody concentrations have been found in SSc patients [ 103 , 104 ].
