A recent Cochrane systematic review of 12 RCTs comparing the preventive administration of anti-thrombotic agents (heparin or vitamin K antagonists) against placebo in 3,611 pediatric cancer patients only found a nonsignificant trend towards decreased incidence of symptomatic deep vein thrombosis and a nonsignificant reduction of CRBSI [ 70 ].
