However, in the present study, no statistically significant differences in the levels of growth factors in the serum and induced sputum were found prior to and following one month of inhaled corticosteroid treatment in the nine cases that underwent follow-up; although the levels of EGF, bFGF, PDGF-AA and VEGF presented a decreasing trend following treatment.
