As expected, linear regression analysis of: 1) the number of transcripts assembled; 2) the total Mbp sequenced; 3) the number of perfect SSRs identified; and 4) the number of putative primer pairs to SSRs, all versus the total number of SSRs identified, showed highly significant positive correlations ( R 2 = 0.81, 0.84, 0.97 and 0.98, respectively, P <0.0001 in each case).
