In both CM cases and controls, vitamin D deficiency was associated with increased odds of active tuberculosis, with some evidence for an increasing trend with worsening deficiency (OR, 1.47 [95% CI, .5–4.7] for vitamin D insufficiency; OR, 1.51 [95% CI, .5–4.5] for vitamin D deficiency; and OR, 2.52 [95% CI, .8–7.9] for severe vitamin D deficiency, all compared to a baseline of normal vitamin D status; P for trend = .069).
