Spearman rank correlations between the ecological Bray-Curtis similarity matrix and the four phylogeny-based distance matrices (MPD and MNTD with two branch-length options each) were always highly significant ( p ≤0.001), but MNTD index showed higher coefficient values with Bray-Curtis ecological index (0.84 to 0.87), compared to MPD (0.50 to 0.60) ( Table 3 ).
