In a study of all Ontario babies born during the year 1994 who were diagnosed with asthma before their sixth birthday, there was a decreasing trend in hospitalization rates with age, from 86.7 per 1000 patients per year in the 0 to 2 years age group to 27.3 per 1000 patients for those aged 3 to 5 years and 10.9 per 1000 for those aged 6 to 9 years.
