When original data were analyzed with validation data collected under identical conditions but naïve to the identity of interacting male lines, the dependence of focal male behavior on interacting male line was borderline significant (mixed-model binary logistic regression: n = 639, Z = 1.56, P = 0.059), and a nonsignificant interaction between line and block indicated that the tapping IGE was consistent across the two blocks (mixed-model binary logistic regression: n = 639, Z = 0.10, P = 0.458).
