A poll conducted by telephonic interviews of 1,506 adults in the US in 2004-2005 found a decreasing trend in the number of persons sleeping >/= 7 hours on weekends and weeknights when compared with findings in a similar 1998 survey.[ 20 ] Thus, the average American is sleeping much less now than he used to earlier.
